Grant Writing
For more than 25 years, I have been writing grants and leading teams working together to identify funding sources and develop proposals. This includes researching opportunities, understanding the environment and the actors in it, identifying which funders to target and articulating how the activities and unique attributes of an organization will lead to desired outcomes and align with donor priorities. I am also a strategic thought partner who can offer a fresh perspective to leaders and boards as they consider their fundraising strategy and diversifying their portfolios - including working with donor advised funds, corporate sponsors and high net worth individuals in addition to traditional funders.
Event Planning
The prospect of planning events – whether large or small – can be daunting. Often times, it is done in addition to or at the expense of other work as overstretched staff struggling to keep up with their other responsibilities. With my experience and comfort in event planning, I am able to provide piece of mind by helping teams where they need it. My work for clients can be targeted to particular needs or can span the full event lifecycle including: development of the overall agenda; cultivating sessions to ensure they were engaging and met objectives; managing logistics and budget; identifying and working with vendors; facilitation; and coordinating with internal and external partners to ensure success. I am comfortable organizing smaller, more intimate meetings as well as large fundraisers and multi-day conferences.
Strategy Design
Throughout my career, I have guided teams of various sizes through strategy design exercises and in the implementation of the resulting plans or recommendations – whether they be for the organization as a whole or for departments or teams within them. I understand the importance of clearly defining the problem(s) at hand and how to work collaboratively with teams to explore solutions. With an eye to implementation, I guide teams to balance ambition with practical, measurable objectives designed for impact. After having worked with me, my clients report that they operate more efficiently and are better able to clearly convey their comparative advantages as they reach out to potential funders.
