Services
Of the many challenges facing organizations in the current environment, one of the most pressing is to ensure they have enough money to finance their operations and reach their objectives.
Whether it is putting on a fundraising or promotional event, hosting an important meeting, seeking funding through grants or finding ways to operate more strategically with limited resources, I will work with you to ensure your organization achieves results and thrives.
Event Planning
During my tenure at PATH, I directed the planning of the annual General Membership Meeting of the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition, which hosts 300+ participants from more than 50 countries over five days and takes place in a different city each year including Kathmandu, Brussels, Seattle, Oslo, and Mexico City. My work on these encompassed the full event lifecycle: development of the overall agenda; cultivating sessions to ensure they were engaging and met objectives; managing logistics and budget; identifying and working with vendors; facilitation; and coordinating with internal and external partners to ensure success. Based on feedback from participants these meetings are seen to be among the best in the industry.
Though my work at the World Affairs Council in Seattle, I also have extensive experience in planning events in the Puget Sound area - ranging from more intimate gatherings to large fundraising events in various venues.
Consulting Clients include:
• The Male Contraceptive Initiative: for which I led the organization of the 2025 National Contraceptive Meeting that it hosted for more than 250 industry leaders over four days in Durham, NC ; and
The United Nations Population Fund in Copenhagen, which needed support to strategize for and organize a large-scale, multi-day meeting of partners from multiple sectors.
Grant Writing
Over the last 20+ years, I have been writing grants and leading teams working together to identify funding sources and develop proposals. This includes researching opportunities, understanding the environment and the actors in it, and articulating how the activities and unique attributes of an organization will lead to desired outcomes.
My experience spans from successful grants to foundations including the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and the Gates Foundation, federal grants with USAID, and multilaterals including the Global Fund. Awards have ranged from smaller grants of less than $100k to large projects of up to $70m.
Strategic Planning
Throughout my career, I have guided teams of various sizes through strategic planning exercises and in the implementation of the resulting plans or recommendations – whether they be for the organization as a whole or for departments or teams within them. I understand the importance of clearly defining the problem(s) at hand and how to work collaboratively with teams to explore solutions. With an eye to implementation, I guide teams to balance ambition with practical, measurable objectives designed for impact. Emphasis is always on ensuring resulting documents and tools are clear, concise and user-friendly to encourage ease of reference throughout the implantation period. Through experience and coursework, I am also well-versed in change management which is a key component underlying the success of these processes.
